Training Educators History
From 1991 to 1998, Safe Schools South Florida provided a variety of ad hoc workshops and a range of information relative to sexual minority issues in South Florida Schools. Although primarily focused on Miami-Dade, Safe Schools South Florida held workshops in Monroe and Hillsborough Counties.
In 1998, Safe Schools South Florida, working with the Student Services Department of the Miami-Dade Public Schools District, created a day-long workshop for educators called “Safe Schools & Sexual Minority Issues.” Under the auspices of Student Services, Safe Schools South Florida was able to offer ten reaccreditation points for teachers and counselors in Miami-Dade.
In 2006, at the urging of many of the educators who attended our workshops, we added a second level of Safe Schools & Sexual Minorities Issues as well as a day long presentation on transgender issues. Click here to go to course descriptions. |
