Our Mission

Welcome to Safe Schools South Florida

Safe Schools South Florida is the only organization in South Florida comprised of professional educators committed to training education professionals to recognize and intervene in harassment and bullying of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) students and the children of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) parents. For more than 15 years, Safe Schools South Florida, under the direction of co-founder and executive director, Robert Loupo, has:

  • Empowered students through leadership trainings and conferences.

  • Trained educators to recognize and intervene in anti-sexual minority bullying.

  • Educated parents and the public through a LGBT speakers bureau.

  • Monitored our successes and refined our programs to be sure they are helping us achieve our mission.


Rainbow Honor Society - Matching Grant

Safe Schools South Florida encourages anyone who is concerned about the lives and futures of GLBT students to consider supporting our work as a member of the Rainbow Honor Society with a gift of $1,200 a year or more – lump sum or by a convenient monthly payment plan.  Every dollar you donate goes to helping make our schools safer for all our youth.  As a Rainbow Honor Society member, you are invited to attend any of our programs and to join us in an annual meet-and-greet to get to know some of the young people you have helped.

Bruce Presley, president of the board of directors, has announced a $100,000 matching grant to help launch Safe Schools South Florida . “I've been involved with this organization for almost 10 years,” says Bruce, “and am continuously impressed by the impact our training has on teachers and students alike. If you're concerned with young people – particularly young gay people – and their education won't you join me in launching the new and expanded Safe Schools South Florida?” Bruce will match any amount donated up to $100,000 – including monthly gifts of any amount. Not only do you get a tax deduction, but your donation will go twice as far.
